With all the recent internet buzz over ‘The Fappening‘ and more recently ‘The Fappening 2 – The Second Coming‘, showcasing the unfortunate event where celebrity’s iCloud accounts were hacked and compromising photographs and videos of them spread over the seedier parts of the internet, causing public outcry (mostly from the celebs legal and management teams), it’s no surprise that it has drawn the attention of the creative community who have taken a very clever ‘safe-for-work’ spin on the incident. And thus the ‘UNfappening was born.

The UNFappening‘ is a website that invites artists to cover up the offending nude photos with illustrations, using collages, drawings, and Photoshop, allowing the celebrities (and their illicit images) to regain some sense of modesty and restore some sense of decency to the internet.

It’s a new addition to the internet community (obviously) and the website’s description reads, “The fappening happened. We can’t change that. But we can cover it up. It’s the least we can do. Here we show the works of artists who did so.”

Artists are invited to submit their alterations to the photos through an email address on the site.

The result is something that takes that nasty bitter taste out of a mouths that a lot of us are feeling about the recent incident and replaces it with something altogether more palatable and digestible, that has the added benefit of showing to your friends and peers without being deemed a dirty little pervert.
