Happy 4th July Americans, today is a time to celebrate how great your country is and brush up on your school revolutionary war history lessons as you try to remember when Congress debated and revised the wording of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

But here’s some food for thought from YouTube channel AlternateHistoryHub–What would the United States be like if the English won? It doesn’t bear thinking about, or maybe it does!

AlternateHistoryHub ponders what benefits you might be enjoying had the UK beat the those American upstarts in the War of Independence?

Well, for a start, if you happen to be British (like i am) you’d most certainly have better comedy, actors would be more respected, much better swear words, beer that is actually ‘beer’, better news and all the mushy peas that could eat—who wouldn’t want that?

But seriously, what if the US stayed apart of the British Empire and remained colonies? This is a question which many people have always pondered, and as American it affects everything in my society.

So what would change in this new world? Not surprisingly, a lot according to HistoryHub

Happy 4th of July everyone, have a great day, but just remember what that independence cost you as you sup on your overpriced premium European beer. Zachary Quinto (below) will help you ponder this.
