You might think it doesn’t include you, but cell phone addiction is all too real. In fact the first sign of addiction is denial so, much like the rest of society, you’re in the denial stage right now. If you don’t believe that then get on your cell phone and Google ‘cell phone addiction’ and see what it you find, you won’t like it. So maybe get on a group Snapchat and make a post on Facebook to see what your friends say about it and if they agree.

Chances are you’ll find that people agree with you that they don’t have a problem and it’s total rubbish.

And these photos are an indication that we all might need help. Although, who is going to give us that help when we’re all seemingly suffering from cell phone addiction, is anyone’s guess.

Because being unable to put down your phone is an affliction that seems universal. There’s even a whole range of disorders that are associated with too much cell phone use. In fact there’s even rehab centers for cell phone addiction recovery.

One of them is called reStart and is based in Redmond, WA. According to their website they offer “treatment for problematic Internet use, video game addiction, VR, and distracting texting, social media and gaming use.”

They also compare an inability to being able to put down your phone with compulsive shopping, compulsive binge eating, compulsive gambling, and various other behavioural addictions.

Here’s The Facts Behind Cell Phone Addiction

A study by Baylor University on cell phone addiction, which is from back in 2014 so things have probably gotten worse, says women college students spend an average of 10 hours a day on cellphones while male college students spend around eight.

“That’s astounding,” said researcher James Roberts, Ph.D., The Ben H. Williams Professor of Marketing in Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business. “As cellphone functions increase, addictions to this seemingly indispensable piece of technology become an increasingly realistic possibility.”

The study also notes that around 60 percent of the 164 students surveyed admitted they might be addicted to their cell phones.

So why are we so addicted? Well, scientists have shown that interacting and being connected on our phones, be it social media, texting or emailing, releases dopamine, a chemical that makes us feel happy. This leads to instant hits of gratification, just like an addictive substance. So it’s no surprise people are taking digital detoxes. Or, at least, talking about taking digital detoxes. Whether they go ahead with them is another thing.

Anyway, back to the funny pics. Which you can check out below.
