Around five years ago documentary filmmaker Sean Dunne released his film American Juggalo that took a look at the subculture of Juggalos, the dedicated, face-painted fans of Insane Clown Posse.

Dunne went to the Gathering of the Juggalos to talk to the thousands of fans who get together to party and be with kindred spirits, giving people who feel like outsiders in the mainstream a place to belong.

In American Juggalo 2 Dunne returns to that world but this time focuses more on one individual, namely the wheelchair-bound Alexander “Less Legs” Perkins. Perkins, with his “Fuck a job” t-shirt, impromptu rapping, and whoop-whooping, makes for an intriguing and charismatic figure.

Dunne’s portrait of him lets the subject shine and is full of wonderful footage and comments from Perkins (“I’m just some ninja, I’m just somebody from nowhere just tryin’ to have fun…just some Juggalo.”), and it makes for an inspiring watch.

By the end of it you come away feeling that, at the end of it all, it’s just about belonging and friendship. And Dunne’s film lets those ideas come across through his affection for his subjects, telling their stories without judgment or patronizing them.
