President Trump’s latest bizarre tweet has inspired Twitter to deliver some ‘Trump History Lessons‘ (using the #TrumpHistoryLessons hashtag) in it’s latest social media game which re-imagine US history as seen through the eyes of the 45th POTUS. It all started with an interview that Trump gave with the Washington Examiner where he was speaking about his admiration for American soldier, statesman and the 7th US President Andrew Jackson.

He then began to ruminate on why the American Civil War had to be fought, and why it couldn’t have been resolved legislatively. “I mean, had Andrew Jackson been a little later you wouldn’t have had the Civil War,” Trump said. “He was a very tough person but he had a big heart. He was really angry what he saw with regard to the Civil War, he said ‘There’s no reason for this.'”

Trump continued, “People don’t realize, you know, the Civil War, if you think about it, why? People don’t ask that question, but why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not have been worked out?”

Why, indeed. But it didn’t end there because this being Trump he decided to tweet about it too.

What The Trump History Lessons Forgot To Include

Trump History Lessons Andrew Jackson.

What Trump didn’t mention in his ‘Trump History Lessons‘, and people were only to happy to point out, was that Jackson just happened to own a slave plantation called The Hermitage. “When Andrew Jackson bought The Hermitage in 1804, he owned nine enslaved African Americans.” says The Hermitage’s website. “Just 25 years later that number had swelled to over 100 through purchase and reproduction. At the time of his death in 1845, Jackson owned approximately 150 people who lived and worked on the property.”

So, yeah, Jackson probably wouldn’t have wanted Civil War because he was a slave owner. And the Civil War had to happen to end slavery, regardless of what Jackson wanted. Plus, he died 16 years before it happened so how the heck could he have stopped it? Unless he’s a time traveller. But ‘Trump History Lessons‘ never lie, right?

But, no matter. Because twitter was only too happy to not let Trump get away with his ramblings, as they decided to lay down some untruths of their own, in the form of the hashtag #TrumpHistoryLessons.

Check out some more of the hilarious ‘Trump History Lessons‘ below. And never trust the 45th POTUS when it comes to American history.
