It’s time to get tuned into Radio Garden. If you ever found yourself intrigued as to what, say, the locals in Sofia, Bulgaria or Bucharest, Romania were listening to when it comes to online radio stations, then you’re in luck, Radio Station has got yur back with this really cool new web app that can also work on your smartphone.

The interactive website app (see below) lets you scan across a 3D map of the world and stop off in whatever country you want to listen to their live radio streams. Just click on the green dot and you’re listening.

It’s as easy as that.

Also they have just released 2 apps for smartphone market that will work on Android and iPhone models. Download the Android app here and the Apple app here.

You can explore the planet, tune into a local radio station and listen to it below, or go here for a bigger map.

Not only can you tune into transmission from across the earth, but you can also listen to archive clips from radio history, different jingles, and stories, both old and new, from listeners in various locations. How cool is that.

Try Out The Radio Garden Web App

It’s quite mind boggling knowing just how vast, and varied, the number of stations that exist in the world are—and you can even find stations in locations you’ve likely never heard of before, like Nipawin, Canada.

The people behind it are Studio Puckey and Moniker who developed it in collaboration with the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision.

“By bringing distant voices close, radio connects people and places. Radio Garden allows listeners to explore processes of broadcasting and hearing identities across the entire globe.” say the developers. “From its very beginning, radio signals have crossed borders. Radio makers and listeners have imagined both connecting with distant cultures, as well as re-connecting with people from ‘home’ from thousands of miles away – or using local community radio to make and enrich new homes.”

It makes exploring the world in this way kind of magical.

Check out the video below where Leo Laporte shows off Radio Garden and takes a trip around the planet.
