With the series six mid-season finale just gone, there’s going to be a TWD drought until February 2016 when the series returns. And we’ve been left with plenty of cliffhangers. Like, why the heck is Sam calling for his mom when they’re trying to escape? And, more importantly, will he get brutally devoured by zombies? Let’s hope so.

There’s also the question of Morgan and Carol, while it’s unlikely either of them will die, what the outcome will be there is anyone’s guess. Also, what’s the fate of the Wolf and Dr. Denise who he’s kidnapped? And what of the fate of Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham? Will Glenn save Maggie? And where the f*ck are some of the other Alexandrians like Heath and Aaron? Can Ron die too? Pretty Please? Anyway, plenty of questions.

But as well as being gripping entertainment the TV series has sparked off some great internet funnies, from a Lego remake, a ‘Carl Poppa‘ music video (which is great by the way), through to a Bad Lip Reading parody of the show. But none of these come close to the genius that is the ‘Hey Carl‘ meme that has been with us since November 14th, 2012 when YouTuber MichiganSt35 uploaded a clip (video above) from The Walking Dead (Season 3, Episode 4) of Rick Grimes bawling after his wife dies titled “Rick finds out Carl is gay”.

Within 2 weeks BuzzFeed highlighted several multi-pane comics featuring Grimes telling his son Carl various dad jokes and the ‘Hey Carl’ meme was born.

There are hundreds of user uploads to be found on the interwebs and many more being uploaded every day which goes to prove that this meme is not going to go the way of the dinosaur anytime soon (Reddit even has their own special place for the latest uploaded creations)

The 30+ pictures below are (in our opinion) some of the best examples that have been uploaded to date and totally encapsulate the whole ‘Walking Dad’ jokes. Enjoy

Update!!! This post has proved so popular that we are adding a few new Series 7 ‘Coral’ jokes.

And finally–You also have to love the way that Rick always calls his son ‘Coral’
