A pet cat isn’t just for snuggling up with, or for using to keep the house mouse-free. No, it’s also for recreating iconic scenes from classic movies like Aliens, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and The Shining.

At least it is if you’re a guy called David, and his girlfriend Sarah, a couple from the UK who have been doing just that and posting the hilarious results to their Instagram @casualmoviecats.

The idea came to them because they both love films and they both love their pet cats too. So decided to combine the two. Which is fair enough, plus the images aren’t just very amusing but the scenes are recreated with an admirable attention to detail.

“We host a pub quiz every few weeks, so we started doing it for the film/TV round, and we enjoyed it so much we decided to keep doing it as a regular quiz question,” they told Love Meow. “The cats clearly think we’re weird, but they get loads of treats doing it which tends to be their main focus.”

So enjoy the chest-buster scene from Aliens but with a baby Xenomorph replaced with a curious cat. Or the pottery scene from Ghost kitti-fied.

At the moment they’ve only done a few films but it’s early days yet. “We’re going to keep making them.” the pair told The Dodo. “It’s a hilarious way to spend a Sunday!”

Check out their feline creations below. Head to their Instagram for more.

Alien: “What’s the matter?… The food ain’t that bad…”

Ghost: “I’m Henry the 8th I am. Henry the 8th I am I am….”

American Beauty: “Look at me, jerking off in the shower… This will be the high point of my day; it’s all downhill from here. “

The Shining: “Darling, I’m not gonna hurt you. I’m just gonna bash your brains in.”

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial: “He’s a man from outer space and we’re taking him to his spaceship.”
