It’s a horrible sight to see, but with the Tokoyo Olympics coming up in 2016 these pictures are a timely reminder of the abuse some Chinese children suffer in the race to become an elite competing Olympic athlete.

Many of these photos are from the Nanning Gymnasium in Nanning, China, known as one of the most harsh training camps in the country. As harrowing as these pictures are, astonishingly, Chinese parents willingly send their children there to learn how to become Olympic champions (see the photos below).

Chinese children start training incredibly young, from around 5 or 6-years-old.

It wasn’t just leading up to Beijing 2008 that the abuse happened either, Reuters reported that it was still going on for the last Olympics held in London in 2012. “The whole-nation system is disastrous. The budding young talents are shut up in closed training schools from a young age and apart from their own events, almost have no other life skills.” Reuters quote a user on China’s microblogging site Sina Weibo.

The Chinese see their elite sport programme, part of the Communist “juguo tizhi” or “whole nation system”, as a way to boost national pride and build confidence. But the good news is that it looks as if this is in decline.

A Change In Direction For Chinese Children

Chinese-Children-school.

In recent years as China grows more prosperous and a larger focus is placed on different forms of education for young Chinese children with Fewer parents willing to let their children endure grueling training routines.

The Daily Mail reported “Debates about the continued relevance of the sports school system began to emerge after the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Huang and other schools said, as emerging tales of difficulties facing retired athletes jarred against rising expectations of education standards among China’s booming middle-class.”

The Mail goes on to say “The country’s declining birth rate as a result of China’s one-child policy has not helped either, along with its cut-throat education system, which sees Chinese children spending twice as much time on homework a day compared to the global average.”

Check out some of the disturning photograps below from the Nanning Gymnasium in Nanning, China.

      • http://davidduke.com John Torruno

dude. you do see his profile picture right? you think he cares how he spells? lol. at least he figured out how to upload one though. byatch

  • http://davidduke.com John Torruno

they arent doing that to win competitions..lol. im sure we will find out exactly why they are training in the next few decades

  • bogart pablo

I don’t see this as a form of abuse. This is exactly what we get during training. If its all fun and painless then its not training. They are just playing games. This is far better than the spoiled, rich kids who think that the law is on their side so they can just say FUCK YOU to mom and dad.

    • Jessica Maurer

By “we” are you referring to you and the other 5 year old children suffering through grueling training? If an adult chooses to torture themselves through physical training, fine. Going through childhood without being abused is not tantamount to being spoiled. Any parent that forces their child through this training deserves to be told “f you”. And it’s not illegal to say that, so the law would be on anybody’s side there…. Another problem is that after the olympics are over, they have no other life skills to fall back on.

  • ranter101010

clearly, this article was made by someone from the U.S. where children are spoiled and could just swear at mom and dad, and the most cruel of punishment they could get is a “private talk in the room” . . kids in the western world are spoiled as a month old milk left outside in a humid room

NO TRAINING IS COMPLETE WITHOUT TEARS, SWEAT AND BLOOD, you think top athletes and elite soldiers got to where they are by whining on social media how their training was hard? NO, they sucked it up and moved forward through the pain . . . geeeeez

oh and did you see the last pic? the children with muscles looking all pumped up? that’s the face of someone who is proud of their hard work and accomplishment

    • Fred Madison

Fuck you you disgusting chink piece of shit. Rot in hell, get AIDS and get raped to death. Chinks are dirty scum.

    • JD

Its going to be hilarious when a major war breaks out and you realize that this chinese mentality and the low value of human quality of life leads to your friends and family being thrown into reckless attacks that sees them slaughtered. Just ask the soviets where that kind of thinking leads. Or hell, even ask your own government, since the Chinese wasted human lives in WW2 in the same manner.

When you see humans as nothing more than tools for the state, don’t be surprised when it comes back to haunt you.

  • mk57

It IS heartbreaking to see a child in pain and crying,,,,well, okay….it breaks MY heart. I can fully understand the need to push the children to extremes but that STILL does not stop me feeling they all could do with a cuddle. THEN get back to work again. You might get further with a kind word than with the threat of punishment…..Not always though….anyhoo, we’ll all see in future Olympics whether this method actually works….

  • staticfl

But the UN doesnt have a problem with this.. just Israel. fuck the UN.

    • Toph

      no! fuck the chinese

  • Andrea Gevara

Pff americans, you dont impart discipline to your kids, thats why they grown arrogant and harsh towards their own parents, US a country in decadency

  • SgtHorbath

I’m sure they’re enjoying themselves. Look at all those happy little faces! Too bad they can’t come up with their own ideas and have to steal it from the rest of the world.

  • ColacX

Well there’s too many people in China anyway. There is no doubt that parents would willingly send their children there since most/many Chinese has a very bleak future as a factory worker. Made In China.

  • Danny Lamb

    No pain No gain.

  • jokur

emotion is weak discipline produces champions!

  • Gummo Giu

that is because mental abuse on occidental children by “you have to success” can’t be shown

  • Issam Sarraj

Its Fake.Take a second look. See how the heads with sad faces are placed in some other photos to make it look that they are suffering from hard training. This is a propaganda against China because they always win Gold medals in Olympics.
