When it comes to tattoos, there are styles that are super minimal then there are styles that are anything but. Filed into the latter category is the amazing and in-your-face work of Chris Rigoni. The talented Australian tattooist makes vibrant creations that feature plenty of color and surreal imagery.

His designs are not for those seeking something that would be barely noticed, but if you’re looking for something that stands out and is unique, he’s your guy.

Often Rigoni says his clients don’t really no what sort of tattoo they want. That is, until they see one of Rigoni’s designs which often feature animals or nature, combined with geometric forms and cosmic visuals.

And these themes in his work often come from his own interests. “I nerd out pretty hard on space, the universe, quantum physics, astrophysics.” he tells Konbini. “If I could have become anything, I would’ve become an astronaut. These new elements in my work are just about me putting more and more of myself into the tattoos, rather than sticking too close to the reference or initial ideas the client may have had.”

Chris goes on to say ““Pretty much all of the tattoos I get the most recognition for, or interest in, are where the client has … just let me come up with something. I’m amazed at the trust people put in me. It means a lot.”

It seems he’s doing the right thing, because not only does he have tens of thousands of followers on Instagram, to get a tattoo you’ll have to go to the bottom of a very long waiting list.

Check out some of his designs below. See more on his Instagram page.
