Earlier today seven Fifa officials were arrested in Switzerland after US authorities indicted them for corruption charges relating to the bidding and sponsorship for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. They join another seven Fifa officials, all accused of taking bribes over a 24 year period which amount to a staggering $150m. It means they could face charges of money laundering and fraud.

It’s the latest controversy to hit soccer’s governing body, who were already under attack for their decision to host the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Because it’s emerged that around 1,000 migrant workers have died constructing stadiums for the competition, a figure that may well quadruple by the time building work is complete.

Add to this the fact that some of the workers are effectively forced into slavery by having their passports confiscated when they enter the country, and you can understand why there’s been a backlash.

In response to what’s going on people have been shaming the sponsors of what is the biggest, and one of the most lucrative, sports events on the planet by creating ‘anti-logos’ and ‘anti-advertisements.’ These twisted versions highlight the human rights abuses by adding in whips, shackles, and chains to some of the world’s most recognisable corporate logos and brands.

It’s certainly not the ideal image companies want to project and people making the images are hoping it might shame the sponsors into backing out. Here’s hoping.
