If you’re a Pink Floyd fan (and who isn’t) then you’ll be familiar (very familiar) with the epic and complicated guitar solos from one of their most beloved tracks ‘Comfortably Numb’.

Be honest. You’ve probably played air guitar along to them on numerous occasions.

15-year-old French guitarist Tina S goes one better than your air guitar attempts, she plays the solo—the one from the end of the track— on her Vigier Excalibur Custom guitar.

And if you close your eyes it could almost be David Gilmour. Almost.

It’s an impressive performance however you look at it, and that fact that she’s only 15 should give prog rockers—both young, old, and ancient—some hope that their favorite music will live on in future generations.

The song first appeared on the 1979 double album The Wall. It was also released as a single in 1980 with “Hey You” as the B-side.

It is one of only three songs on the album for which writing credits are shared between bassist Roger Waters and guitarist David Gilmour. The chorus melody was written by Gilmour while Waters contributed the lyrics and the music for the verses.

Below is the original track by Floyd so you can see how close Tina S’s performance comes.

She has the notes down brilliantly, but there’s no feeling, no emotion, just the notes.

    • MotorCity87

Christ, she’s 15! She hasn’t lived long enough on this earth to have experienced all the range of emotions and feelings we have gone through as an adult. Give her time!

  • Brian Leichty

    David Gilmour would be proud.

For the folks dissing her for being too stiff remember Gilmour didn’t come up with this riff until he was 33 years old. Give her an other 18 years and see what she has progressed to.
